Commercial pilot training is usually a vocational school or bachelor degree programme. See the pages for vocational school or university and university college to calculate how much loan and grant you are entitled to.
In addition, you may receive a supplementary loan for tuition fees of up to NOK 440, 768 per academic year for a maximum of two years.
If you are undergoing pilot training in the Royal Norwegian Air Force, you are not entitled to loans and grants because you receive a salary during your education.
There is no separate application for the supplementary loan. You automatically apply for it if you select maximum loan in the regular online application form and are taking an approved commercial pilot course.
Pilot Flight Academy bankruptcy
There are no separate rules for students at educational institutions that go bankrupt. If you were studying at Pilot Flight Academy and are affected by the bankruptcy, you are entitled to grants and loans up to and including 15 January. This means you will not receive any further loan disbursements after the December 2025 payment.
If you are no longer entitled to support from Lånekassen, interest will be added to your loan from 16 January. You will receive your first invoice about seven months later. You can apply to defer payment if you wish.
If you start another full-time education programme in the spring semester, you must remember to apply for a student loan again by the March 15 deadline. If you continue as a full-time student in spring 2026 and receive support from Lånekassen, interest will not be added to your loan.
Students affected by the bankruptcy who receive loans and grants from Lånekassen will receive specific information from Lånekassen on Dine sider. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
