What is a preliminary statement?

A preliminary statement is typically needed when applying for a visa or admission to study in the USA or Canada.

A preliminary statement of loans and grants is a general overview of how much you can receive in loans and grants from Lånekassen for an entire academic year when studying abroad. The preliminary statement does not guarantee that you will receive loans and grants from Lånekassen.

The statement is valid worldwide, but students in the USA and Canada in particular require such statements.

When do you need a preliminary statement?

The preliminary statement is applicable when:

  • applying for admission to study abroad
  • applying for a visa
  • finding accommodation if the landlord requires proof of funds
  • the educational institution requires tuition payment before you have received loans and grants

Remember to apply for loans and grants through Dine sider
