What is a preliminary statement?
A preliminary statement of loans and grants is a general overview of how much you can receive in loans and grants from Lånekassen for an entire academic year when studying abroad. The preliminary statement does not guarantee that you will receive loans and grants from Lånekassen.
The statement is valid worldwide, but students in the USA and Canada in particular require such statements.
When do you need a preliminary statement?
The preliminary statement is applicable when:
- applying for admission to study abroad
- applying for a visa
- finding accommodation if the landlord requires proof of funds
- the educational institution requires tuition payment before you have received loans and grants
Remember to apply for loans and grants through Dine sider
To be eligible for loans and grants from Lånekassen you must be a student at an approved educational institution and meet the other terms and conditions for receiving loans and grants. A preliminary statement is not a substitute for an application for loans and grants. You must submit an application for loans and grants through Dine sider when you have been admitted to the educational institution.
